The hotel is full of history and character - its exterior was painted pink and white to celebrate the end of the First World War. Be sure to ask to see the colonial-era Sherwood Room and Churchill Writing Room. There are contemporary features, with nearly half of guests staying on business.

Breakfast is a lavish buffet served in Oasis - and is included in the rate. If you're looking for a cosy spot to enjoy a fine glass of South African wine, head to the Planet Bar. We recommend the tangy lamb curry with sambals and poppadoms.
