THE HIGHLIGHTS
Nestled in the gloriously calming South Downs is South Lodge, a dreamy five-star hotel and spa. It's a 19th-century neo-Jacobean mansion enveloped in rhododendron-rich gardens complete with a croquet lawn, overlooking chalky hills, ancient pastoral grazing and ponds. Inside, interiors are sumptuous with huge fireplaces, Tudor-rose plasterwork and embossed wallpapers.
The star attraction here is South Lodge Spa - a truly exceptional well-designed hotel facility that's also open for non-resident day membership. One of the many highlights here is the thermal suite, with scented humidity and salt rooms, a sauna and choice of three pools.
